When Billy Napier, head football coach of the University of Florida was shown the door on Sunday, October 19, 2025, even a 23‑21 win over Mississippi State couldn’t save his job, officials said. The decision, announced by athletic director Scott Strickland, sent shockwaves through Gainesville and put the Florida Gators into a frantic coaching carousel just days before a bye week and a showdown with the Georgia Bulldogs on Nov. 1.
